VIRMANEL (Virtual MANET Lab) is a new tool for studying mobile distributed networks. It uses containers virtualization based on OpenVZ to run dozens of virtual nodes distributed over one or more computers. Mobility is simulated by dynamically updating fi rewall rules on virtual nodes.

The cartesian coordinates of a mobile are provided by a script describing the user mobility model. This script is written in SILUMOD, a language developed specially for VIRMANEL.
